Worth A Visit

Bonbon beach

Bonbon beach

  • Bonbon Beach, Romblon, boasts an amazing sandbar, making it the Philippines’ most beautiful beach!
  • Bonbon Beach, Romblon, is a 5-minute drive or a 45-minute walk from the main town along the beach route.
  • An easy 5-minute stroll down the shoreline and around the corner will find Bonbon Beach, which isn’t visible from the jump-off location.
  • Bonbon Beach is a sparkling white sandbar from the mainland to Bang-og Island. Both sides of the Bonbon sandbar have waist-deep blue seas that are suitable for swimming.
  • Bonbon Beach is privately owned by a local; however, visitors and locals are allowed to traverse the area as long as they take only photographs and leave only footprints.
  • At low tide, the Bonbon Beach sandbar is totally exposed, allowing you to stroll over to Bang-og Island and visit its beach.
  • However, Bonbon Beach is only partly exposed during high tide, so be careful while crossing the sandbar to Bang-og Island. You don’t want to be caught there without proper gear.
  • The lack of establishments and development on Bonbon Beach is one of my favourite features. Sugary white beaches, blue seas, with stunning views of the island and Tablas Island.
Fort San Andres

Fort San Andres

  • Fort San Andres, a 15th-century relic on Romblon Island, attracts history and Spanish architectural buffs.
  • Fort San Andres offers a panoramic view of the main town and harbour, along with its rich history.
  • Fort San Andres lies on top of a hill near Romblon town. You may drive to the top parking lot on a scooter or climb the steps from Freedom Park.
  • Despite its small size, the fortification is remarkable. Stone walls and sculptures greet you at the fort, where you may explore the grounds and enter the fort.
  • Fort San Andres’ square parts inside the walls allow you to explore the stone construction. The fort’s highest point, the front wall watchtowers, may be climbed.
  • The summit offers panoramic views of the bay, municipality, and Romblon Province islands.
  • Your Romblon travel itinerary should include a quick visit to Fort San Andres!
Kipot river

Kipot river

  • A fun-filled experience on Romblon Island, the Kipot River is a wonderful departure from the beaches and municipality.
  • A slot canyon with small waterfalls, a vast natural swimming hole, and cliff-jumping opportunities, this isn’t your typical river!
  • From the jump-off point, there’s a steep descent down the valley sides through fields, with homemade steps to make it safer.
  • The forest walk ends in a huge natural swimming hole with the Kipot River Canyon in view. You may swim up the river through the canyon to discover the little falls, or for an adrenaline boost, climb the left-hand rocks and jump from the 3-meter drop into the river.
  • The clean water of the Kipot River makes it easier to discern the depth and where to leap. After a short swim, you may explore the canyon’s terminus and a little waterfall.
Reggae vibes beach

Reggae vibes beach

  • Don’t miss the chance to swim and fish in the coral gardens right outside of Reggae Vibes Hostel if you decide to stay there.
  • Rose mentioned that the water near Reggae Vibes Beach is home to plenty of turtles, making it a great reason to grab a snorkel set and check it out.
  • Rum Vibes is always open for anyone who wants to hang out, even if you’re not a guest. You can also use a few sets of snorkelling gear at the hotel.
  • Just a short 30-meter swim from the shore brings you to the coral gardens. There is a lot to discover underwater, and hopefully, you'll see turtles!
Libtong falls

Libtong falls

  • One of the few waterfalls on Romblon Island is Libtong Falls. It’s a fun adventure that you should add to your list of things to do on Romblon Island.
  • In the very southern part of the island, you can find Libtong Falls. The jump-off point is a bridge where the river meets the ocean, which is an exact 1.5 km drive east from Reggae Vibes Lodge.
San Pedro Beach

San Pedro Beach

  • San Pedro Beach (Talipasak Beach) is another of Romblon’s greatest beaches, hidden in a cove and surrounded by jungle. San Pedro Beach must be on your agenda!
  • San Pedro Beach, on the island’s western point, is heaven! From the main road, a minor road descends the mountain to a dead-end, the jump-off location.
  • Day-trippers may access San Pedro Beach (Talipasak Beach), a private beach owned by the resort. Outside tourists pay 50 pesos to enter.
  • A combination of coconut trees and beautiful green vegetation borders Talipasak Beach’s 100-meter-long beach strip. The photos below will show that it’s one of my favourite beaches!
  • This westernmost part of the island features a coral reef, so be sure to bring snorkel gear and explore.
  • With time, you may spend half a day beachbumming at San Pedro Beach. It’s one of Romblon’s quietest tourist sites.

Tiamban Beach

Tiamban Beach

  • Tiamban Beach is an absolute dream location, and I was surprised that its shores were almost empty during my visit!
  • Tiamban Beach is situated just a short distance from the more popular Bonbon Beach, which is likely why it often gets overlooked.
  • Do note that this is a secluded beach area attached to the Tiamban Beach Resort, though outside guests are welcome to come and enjoy this stretch of sand for a small fee of 50 pesos.
  • This particular beach lies in a cove protected from the winds, and the water is extremely calm, with no currents close to its shores.
  • The sand at Tiamban Beach is glistening white, and the ocean is as crystalline as it could get, all of which is fringed by swaying coconut palms over the water’s edge! I will now let the photos do the talking.
Lighthouse viewpoint

Lighthouse viewpoint

  • Along the coast, there are several lighthouses, but there is one that you should definitely visit.
  • Lighthouse Viewpoint is on the very tip of the island, on the Lamao–Calabogo–Sablayan Road, which is in the eastern part of the island. It’s hard to miss this tall white lighthouse on the side of the road as you drive along the coast.
  • You can walk across the mountain from the jump-off point to a rocky outcropping that sticks out past the rocks. From this point of view, you can see a lot of Romblon’s east coast and the nearby island of Alfonso.
  • You can also see Sibuyan Island in the background on a clear day. It is part of the group of islands in Romblon Province.
  • If you like to get up early, the Lighthouse Viewpoint is a great place to watch the sunrise because it faces east.
Marble quarry & shops

  • Marble shops are plentiful on the island, so you may purchase a memento or present that was crafted there.
Saint Joseph Cathedral, Romblon

Saint Joseph Cathedral, Romblon

  • The Saint Joseph Cathedral is a well-known place of worship in the middle of town. People think it’s the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Romblon Province.

  • It has beautiful building features like stained glass windows, holy paintings, old ornaments, and a big copper bell inside the tower.

Cobrador Island Sea Turtle Sanctuary

Cobrador Island Sea Turtle Sanctuary

  • A Sea Turtle Sanctuary and six white-sand beaches are on Cobrador Island.
  • You may easily visit Cobrador Island by boat and spend a few hours or a day beach hopping.
  • A friendly local with a boat may transport you to Cobrador Island for the day from Romblon.
  • The boat ride to Cobrador Island costs 1000–1500 pesos, depending on your bargaining abilities. To share the boat expenses, join a small party for the experience.
  • The boat ride to Cobrador Island takes 30–40 minutes and drops you off at the harbour where the Sea Turtle Sanctuary sits.
  • Rent snorkelling gear at Romblon or from a Cobrador Island inhabitant.
  • We saw a turtle eating seagrass in the shallows seconds after leaping into the ocean. To avoid scaring a turtle, walk slowly when you see one. It was frightened by us and ran into deeper waters.
  • The first turtle we spotted escaped, but we saw 4 or 5 more when snorkelling at Cobrador Island’s Sea Turtle Sanctuary.
  • Mark this amazing excursion on your Romblon Island bucket list—you won’t regret it.
Titanic beach

Titanic beach

  • This trip doesn’t end with Titanic Beach, which is just my made-up name for it. The name is fitting, as this is where you can find a much smaller replica of the Titanic.
  • Titanic Beach and Tiamban Beach are right next to each other on the same stretch of beach. In fact, the quickest way to get here is to walk for a few minutes along the beach from Tiamban to Titanic Beach.
  • In addition, you can reach Titanic Beach from the road by going down a set of concrete steps next to Nonok Beach Resort. For the second time, this is a private beach area connected to the resort. Guests are allowed to go outside, though.
  • There is a funny concrete replica of the Titanic right next to the water, but it is also a nice beach where you can swim or relax under a straw cover.
  • And, of course, you have to take a picture on the bow of the boat to make the famous scene from the movie Titanic.
